Portfolio

Lighting first. Then the objects and pieces around it.

01

Lighting Collection

Our signature work. Wooden lamps designed and made by hand, from geometric shades that throw patterned light to jointed floor lamps.

02

Handcrafted Objects

Smaller pieces made to be used every day or given as gifts: turned bowls, coffee tampers, boards, rings and keepsakes.

Candle bases and other small objects can also be made on request.

03

Furniture & Commissions

A few selected statement pieces, each made for one particular brief.

The maker

One workshop, one pair of hands, one project at a time.

Mokkou Woodcraft is run by Nick Frauenstein from a small workshop in Jeffreys Bay, South Africa. Every project starts as a conversation about a room, a measurement, a habit — and ends as a piece made to sit in that exact space.

The work is careful and meticulous. Timber is selected board by board, joints are cut for strength as much as for looks, and finishes are built up by hand so surfaces feel right years later, not just on delivery day.

Nothing here is off the shelf. Design, drawing, making and finishing happen under one roof, which keeps detail, honesty and accountability in the same place.

From idea to object

Four stages, kept simple and transparent from the first message to the final fitting.

  1. 01

    Talk

We start with the space, the brief and the budget. Photographs, rough dimensions and a clear sense of what the piece needs to do.

  2. 02

    Design

Drawings, timber options and finishes, refined until the detail, proportion and price all sit right.

  3. 03

    Make

Boards are selected, machined and joined in the workshop, then finished by hand and checked at every stage.

  4. 04

    Deliver

Each piece is checked, wrapped and handed over or delivered with care, ready to use.

Made with intention.

We'd rather make one piece that belongs in a space than ten that simply fill it. Considered proportions, honest materials and joinery that holds — a lamp, a bowl or a table made to be lived with.
